Artist Gathering:
First display of Tennessee ART in Tanasi Gallery came from the artists who donated their ART to the 2008 Dinner/Auction to benefit The Tanasi Center of Northeast Tennessee, Inc. (a 501C3 organization). These artists will be in the gallery, replenishing their ART, until the jury process begins.
Number of art pieces:
Two-Dimensional Art is measured by height and width. Due to limited space, 2-D artists will be given space for two original framed pieces, no larger than 24”x 24”. They may also have two three wrapped prints/originals to put in the common print rack. In addition there is a card rack to display note cards.
Bring your artwork:
Contact Mary K Brown at 423-743-8977 to see if there is space for your work in the gallery and be assigned a three letter “Artist Number”. When you display your approved artwork, turn in a one-page bio with or without a picture to be included in the Bio Notebook. When jurying of artwork starts, you will be notified. There will be set times to Jury work of both new and current artists.
Gallery Opening:
Tanasi Gallery began with a soft opening inside the new Town of Unicoi Information and Visitors Center June 21, 2013. October 4, 2013 was a more formal Opening. We hope to help Tennessee Artists find a place to sell their work in our state.
Gallery Hours:
At this time the gallery is open 10:00 to 4:00 Thursdays and Fridays; after pandemic reopening there will be more regular hours.
Fee(s) & Commission::
No exhibit fee for display at this time. A 30% commission will be charged when artwork is sold. The Commission will go to Tanasi to help with operating expenses and 70% to the artist. NOTE: Sales tax will be collected from the buyer at time of purchase. An artist will be notified if their pieces have sold. That artist may bring another piece of like kind and size to be checked into the Gallery.
